

The 840NT4NLGI is a PLL-based system and DDR clock generator in the Renesas/IDT 840NT4 series. It is designed to interface with Freescale B4/T4 processor systems and provides the system, DDR, real-time clock, and reference clocks required by the platform. Renesas classifies 840NT4NLGI as obsolete. The orderable 840NT4NLGI version is lead-free, supplied in tray packaging, and housed in a 48-lead 7.0 × 7.0 × 0.9 mm VFQFN package with an exposed ground pad.
The device provides ten LVCMOS/LVTTL clock outputs: four system clocks, four DDR clocks, one RTC output, and one 25 MHz reference clock. The specified output frequency range for the system and DDR output banks is 25 MHz to 200 MHz. With the specified 25 MHz reference, the hardware-selectable system and DDR clock settings are 66.67 MHz, 100 MHz, 125 MHz, and 133.33 MHz. The reference source can be selected between a 25 MHz crystal oscillator interface and a differential LVPECL input. An I2C-programmable interface supports device configuration and frequency margining with 0.025 MHz to 0.312 MHz step granularity. The device also supports spread-spectrum clocking for EMI reduction. Supported nominal core/output supply combinations are 3.3 V/3.3 V, 3.3 V/2.5 V, 3.3 V/1.8 V, 2.5 V/2.5 V, and 2.5 V/1.8 V. The specified ambient operating temperature range is −40°C to +85°C.
